DEVELOPMENT

Theatre Research

After researching, I have decided to use a curved theatre. I prefer this design to the more common rectilinear shape. This technique, as well as abandoing the raised stage, brings the audience closer to the performance, which is preferable for drama productions, the main use of this theatre, as the audience can experience the facial expressions of the actors better.

Theatre Design Development

This was my initial design however after speaking with Lana there were several alterations that I had to make. I was inspired by the shell shape due to Torquay's location. When I further developed my idea, I didn't rely on the circle as much, as it created less functional spaces.
